Through the evaluation of four seemingly insignificant items, the Park House Museum will tell the story of times of turmoil, uncertainty, resistance, and resilience. This building, which has stood in Amherstburg since its founding in 1796 has witnessed a massive amount of contemporary historical events, and has withstood the test of time. As we evaluate these items, we will learn how a small fur trading post in River Rouge, Michigan witnessed the birth of a nation, the birth of confederation, global, international, and national conflict, as well as societal growth and change. Explore these objects and what stories they can tell us about the past.
