Guests are invited to learn about and experience a wonderful, local example of Classical Revival Architecture in this informative talk and tour, led by Robert Honor and Kristin Ives. The 1842 Park Family home, on the shore of Lake Erie, is an interesting and somewhat unusual local example of this architectural style.
In this walk, guests will be encouraged to look more closely at the fine details throughout this immersive experience. The walk will also look at recent restoration work and the significant efforts undertaken to preserve the precious, original details of this historic home.
About the host:
The John R. Park Homestead is a prominent local living history museum located on the shore of Lake Erie. This 19 acre conservation area features the original 1842 home of John and Amelia Park, as well as nine related outbuildings.
Robert Honor, U.E. (United Empire Loyalist descendant), B.F.A., B.Ed., is a prominent local historian, artist, and heritage advocate. He is recognized for his extensive knowledge of the local history, architecture, and built heritage, including the John R. Park Homestead.
Kristin Ives, H.B.A., Cert. MMC, is the Curator/Education Coordinator with the Essex Region Conservation Authority and is the Past President of the Ontario Historical Society.
