Take a stroll through the heart of Harrow’s historic main street with the Harrow Early Immigrant Research Society (HEIRS). This year’s Jane’s Walk follows King Street, between the BME Cemetery – and site of the original Munger’s Corners at Walnut Street – to the oldest surviving built heritage in Harrow’s commercial district.
The walk begins outside Shoppers Drug Mart - 69 King St E, across from Shine, the former site of the Haro Theatre, in Harrow. Walkers will travel to Walnut Street to learn about the historic BME Cemetery. The route moves to the north side of King Street, heads west past the Harrow Municipal Building, continues to just beyond the Oddfellow’s Hall.
Along the way, participants will learn about some of Harrow’s oldest commercial buildings, including the Oddfellows Hall, Aldrich/Fox Building, Richardson Block, Clark & Co. Building, McAffee/Madill Building, and the Heaton Building before returning to the starting point. After the Jane’s Walk, participants are encouraged to enjoy the charming eateries in historic downtown Harrow.
