About the event
Hiking the Habitats: A Look at the 5 Habitats of Point Pelee
Time and Date: Friday, April 24th from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM
Host: Kyrsten Burns (Parks Canada)
A hike through Point Pelee National Park reveals the remarkable diversity packed into this small but significant landscape. As the trail winds through forest, savannah, marsh, beach, and open water habitats, visitors experience how each ecosystem supports a unique community of plants and wildlife. Situated at the southernmost tip of mainland Canada, the park acts as a vital migration stopover for birds, insects, and other species, making it one of the most biodiverse places in the country. Walking through these five interconnected habitats offers a living example of how geography, climate, and water shape ecosystems, creating an extraordinary refuge where biodiversity thrives.
