About the event

Layers of Amherstburg: Unearthing Our Past and Preserving Our Legacy

Saturday, April 25 from 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM

Hosts: Shawn Wilkie and Selena Cooper (Royal Canadian Legion - Branch 157)

This Jane’s Talk presentation explores the rich history of Amherstburg through two unique perspectives. The first presentation will highlight archaeological discoveries from a local collection, revealing artifacts that help tell the story of the people who lived and worked in this region long before us.

The second presentation will trace the history of the Royal Canadian Legion Fort Malden Branch 157, from the early days of veterans’ organizations following the First World War to the establishment of the Legion in Amherstburg and its continuing role in supporting veterans and the community today.

Together, these presentations offer a fascinating look at the layers of Amherstburg’s past—both the artifacts uncovered beneath our feet and the living legacy of service, remembrance, and community carried forward by the Legion.
