Developed during the housing boom of the 1920s, this neighbourhood was carefully planned and marketed as a modern suburb, with wide streets, attractive homes, a central park, and strong civic anchors. A hospital, schools, churches, a retail corridor, and transit access were all nearby and part of the vision, creating a neighbourhood designed not just for housing but for everyday life and community.
Join us for a walk around Memorial Park and down Lincoln in the Wood as we explore how that vision was taking shape from 1926 through the inter-war years. Along the way we will look at the planning ideas, architecture, and the influence of architect D.J. Cameron, as well as prominent Windsorites who were early residents of the neighbourhood, and consider how decisions made nearly a century ago still influence the area today—and how the decisions we make today will shape its future.
