About the event

The Architect of Detroit Goes to Windsor

Saturday, May 2nd from 6:00 - 7:00 PM

Host name(s):  Jacob Jones - Albert Kahn Legacy Foundation

You may know Albert Kahn as the Architect of Detroit but his work occurred far outside of the Motor City's borders. From Scotland to the Soviet Union, from Brooklyn to Baltimore, his work helped to shape the built environment in industrial communities across the planet, including right here in Windsor.

Join Jacob Jones, from the Albert Kahn Legacy Foundation, on a walking experience that will immerse you into the world of Walkerville that Albert Kahn helped to create. We will delve into Albert Kahn's craftmanship and impact in Walkerville and around the world. This tour will include a look at the Strathcona Building, where the first Albert Kahn plaque was unveiled last year.

About the host:

Jacob Jones has been leading tours of Detroit for over a decade, a practice he began as a student at Wayne State University and never stopped. A public historian and writer, Jacob is known for using places — buildings, blocks, and neighborhoods — as entry points for telling broader stories about the people and communities who shaped them. His acclaimed tours of the Fisher Building and other Detroit landmarks have become a vehicle for more inclusive, layered histories of the city.
