About the walk:
Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, founded in 1767, is the oldest continuously operating Catholic Parish in Canada west of Montreal. The current church, opened in 1845, was once listed as one of the 10 most endangered heritage buildings in Canada, and was even closed to the public from 2014-2019, due to safety concerns.
Now, thanks to the efforts of Paul Mullins and hundreds of donors, the Church is no longer considered to be endangered, and is in the midst of a major restoration campaign. Join Paul and Fr. Steven on a tour of the Church to see the progress of the Restoration work to date, and to learn about recent discoveries that shed some light on the history of the artwork in this beautiful house of worship.
